Kilkenny College Department of Music
Application from for Music Lessons: 2018-2019.
If you wish your child(ren) to avail of instrumental or vocal tuition at the College, please note the following:
* There is an average of fifteen lessons per half year
* Lessons are taken individually but can be shared in certain circumstances
* Payment must be made in advance, before lessons can commence
* If a pupil applies for lessons, he / she is expected to continue until the end of term.
* Pupils must give advance notice to their professor if they are unavailable to attend a lesson
Individual lessons are 660.00 per year, or 330.00 per half year
Joint lessons (where available) are 330.00 per year.
There is also an introductory lesson plan that may be open to some students. The cost is 300.00 for the year, or 150 for half a year. These lessons are aimed at form 1 pupils ONLY and ONLY in circumstances where the pupil is a complete beginner. Sessions are 20 minutes long and there are 20 lessons in the year. An instrument may also be available for the pupil to borrow at no cost. PLEASE CONTACT THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC IF YOU WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ENTRY TO THIS SCHEME - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE CONSULTED THE DIRECTOR OF MUSIC.
There are comprehensive practice facilities at the College and there is a timetabled practice schedule for boarders.
All the College ensembles are free: Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, Ripieno Society (Orchestra), Jazz Band, Irish Traditional Band.
